The open sports-car Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL 350 was launched in India today at a grand function organized in New Delhi today. The 3.5 litre V6 engine sports car with 315 hp and a torque of 360Nm is a combination of performance, comfort and fuel efficiency. Besides the 18 inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, the car derives many features from Mercedes SL 300 “Gullwing”. The Direct Steering with Variable Servo Assistance is a standard feature of the Mercedes -Benz SL-Class SL 350 that has speed sensitive steering that ensures better control and also imparts agility to the car. The sports car also comes with “KEYLESS-GO”. The Mercedes SL 250 also comes with a sports package introduced in this segment for the first time. The Mercedes SL 250 has been priced at Rs98.50 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

Mercedes Benz SL-Class is available with six different model variants viz., Mercedes Benz SL 280, Mercedes Benz SL 350, Mercedes Benz SL 500, Mercedes Benz SL 600, Mercedes Benz SL 63 AMG and Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG. Among these model variants the last two variants are the most powerful. Showing very high sporty performance of the car. Mercedes Benz SL 63 AMG is highly dynamic, in-built with large spacious 8-cylinder AMG engine which is capable of delivering a power of 386 kw or say 525 hp all along with a torque of 630 Nm. AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT with seven speed sports transmission the car is very powerful to deliver sporty appearance where-ever it goes. Race start function in the car are capable of making the car to adjust according to the need when is required the necessary acceleration just like that of the Formula 1 racing car.

The Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG is even much more powerful with a engine of AMG V12 biturbo type, capable of delivering a power of 450 kw or 612 hp and a torque of 1000 Nm. It can take a peak speed of 100 km/hr. from 0 km/hr. within just 4.2 seconds. Superb power delivery is the main priority of the car.

Fuel consumption in SL 63 AMG is nearly 13.9 lt. per 100 km, CO2 emissions by this acr are 330 gm/km.

While the fuel consumption of Mercedes Benz SL 65 AMG is 15.1 lt. per 100 km and has a CO2 emission of 362 gm per km.


Transmission in the car is a 7G-TRONIC advanced version, which helps in providing a tractive power with-out any problem in acceleration of the car. The downshift capabilities help in moving from many gears all at a time. Making the vehicle even more powerful. Mercedes Benz SL 280, SL 350 and SL 500 all come with the option of 7G-TRONIC sport version, which helps in gear shift changing patters either manually or through the help of steering-wheel gearshift paddles pattern.
